He then decides to become a rock star and reveal vampires to humans. The book opens with Lestat coming out of the ground in the 1980s after a decades long sleep, awakened by a Rock and Roll band named "Satan's night out." He reveals he is a vampire to them, but they think he is joking, as in this universe Interview with the Vampire has been published as a novel. Several events in the two books appear to contradict each other, allowing the reader to decide which version of events they believe to be accurate. The story is told from the point of view of the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt as narrator, while Interview is narrated by Louis de Pointe du Lac. The Vampire Lestat (1985) is a vampire novel by American writer Anne Rice, the second in her Vampire Chronicles, following Interview with the Vampire (1976). ![]()

Expertly researched and entertainingly written, this book is for anyone who has wondered why their brain seems to be sabotaging their life, and what on earth it. In Idiot Brain, neuroscientist Dean Burnett celebrates blind spots, blackouts, insomnia, and all the other downright laughable things our minds do to us, while also exposing the many mistakes we've made in our quest to understand how our brains actually work. We cling to superstitions, remember faces but not names, miss things sitting right in front of us, and lie awake at night while our brains replay our greatest fears on an endless loop all of this, believe it or not, is the sign of a well-meaning brain doing its best to keep you alive and healthy. Welcome to your idiot brain, it is an absolute marvel in some respects-the seat of our consciousness, the pinnacle (so far) of evolutionary progress, and the engine of all human experience-but your brain is also messy, fallible, and about 50,000 years out-of-date. ![]() ![]() This is the website for Doctor Dean Burnett, neuroscientist, lecturer, author, blogger, media pundit, science. You walk into the kitchen, or flip open your laptop, or stride confidently up to a lectern, filled with purpose-and suddenly haven't the foggiest idea what you're doing. Dean Burnett is a neuroscientist and psychiatry lecturer at the Centre for Medical Education at Cardiff University and is the author of the Guardian’s most-read science blog, Brain Flapping. It's happened to all of us at some point. ![]() 5/13/2023 0 Comments Universal harvester review![]() ![]() He stopped in sometimes on his way home from the co-op any tapes he rented he’d keep for a week. A dusky purple hybrid called Cuban Night reminded me of waxed wooden floors. Lemon, moss, wet earth, rose, carrots, and apricots are some other scents I wrote down in my notebook. Some smell of potato peels and pear brandy, others of cloves soaked in honey and crushed green buds. Who says that tulips have no scent? After spending several hours sticking my nose inside more than three dozen varieties, I discovered that not only are tulips perfumed, their fragrances vary dramatically. ![]() ![]() ![]() It’ll shatter your heart and put it back together. Unfortunately, Gibson chooses to sidestep rather than truly resolve their prior misunderstandings. Their past creates the perfect amount of present tension. And the relationship between hero and heroine has sufficient sizzle, striking a perfect balance between their adult attraction and their history. She had a lot of pressure on her to be the perfect daughter, which Gibson conveys quite well. Of course this throws her together with Nick, and of course attraction ensues. ![]() Now she's back for the reading of her stepfather's will, and if she wants her inheritance she needs to stay in town for a year. Basic premise? Delaney left town after her parents caught her in a compromising position with the town bad boy, Nick, who just so happens to be her stepfather's illegitimate son. I like the way Delaney is independent and holds her own. The chemistry between Nick and Delaney is great, and the characters are pretty realistic. Gibson's story has great pacing, a believable plot, and likeable characters. 'Truly Madly Yours' is my second favourite novel from Rachel Gibson (next to 'See Jane Score'). If you love "prodigal daughter" romance novels, then you'll enjoy this book. ![]() 5/13/2023 0 Comments Sula by Toni Morrison![]() ![]() Both women must suffer the consequences of their choices both must decide if they can afford to harbor the love they have for each other and both combine to create an unforgettable rendering of what it means and costs to exist and survive as a black woman in America.
